PARALYZED VETERANS TREATED TO SPECIAL THANKSGIVING MEAL

12-01-2011

Alvarado Hospital hosted its annual “Comebacker’s Neuro Club Thanksgiving Luncheon” to celebrate survivors recovering from a stroke or brain attack, and to recognize their caregivers on Nov. 18, 2011. As part of the event, five paralyzed veterans from the San Diego Paralyzed Veterans Association were in attendance.

The Comebacker’s Neuro Club is for survivors of stroke and traumatic brain injury and advocates for stroke awareness and community support. Stroke is the third-leading cause of death in this country and the leading cause of serious, long-term adult disability. Supported by Alvarado Hospital, Alvarado Hospital Comebacker’s Neuro Club provides ongoing education, support and recreational activities for survivors at any stage of recovery from a stroke, traumatic brain injury or other neurological impairment. The club supports survivors treated at all area hospitals.
