ALVARADO'S CANCER PROGRAM RECEIVES COMMENDATION

02-13-2013

The Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons has granted a Three-Year Accreditation with Commendation to Alvarado Hospital's Community Cancer Program. This is a renewal of the current accreditation.

Facilities, such as Alvarado Hospital, receive Three-Year Accreditation with Commendation following the onsite evaluation by a physician surveyor during which the facility demonstrates a Commendation level of compliance with one or more standards that represent the full scope of the cancer program (cancer committee leadership, cancer data management, clinical services, research, community outreach and quality improvement). In addition, a facility receives a compliance rating for all other standards.

"We're thrilled that this distinction was renewed for another three years," said Peggy Bailey, chief nursing officer. "It reinforces that Alvarado meets the highest quality standards and excellence in cancer care in San Diego."
