As part of its annual Nursing Excellence Awards, Alvarado Hospital recognized two outstanding nurses for their commitment to patient care and their ability to inspire colleagues.
Reggie Tiamzon, RN, (pictured left) received the 2014 Clinical Excellence in Nursing Award. "Reggie truly exemplifies what it means to be a nurse," said Heather Abrahim, telemetry director. "She combines compassion and respect with clinical excellence and attention to detail. As a result, she provides excellent care to all her patients."
Tiamzon, who has worked at Alvarado for 29 years, also has established strong, collaborative relationships with the staff and units in which she works with. "She is an excellent clinician who is well-respected by physicians and peers," Abrahim added.
Tess Abrazaldo, RN, (pictured right with Natalie Cole) was awarded the 2014 Nurse Mentor Award for consistently demonstrating dedication and commitment throughout her years as a nurse.
"Tess puts her heart and soul into her patient care and makes sure they get the best care possible," said Natalie Cole, director of critical care services. "For 32 years, Tess has been a dedicated employee who has filled every function within the ICU and is the go-to expert in all clinical situations."
"As a nurse, Abrazaldo has demonstrated flexibility, competence, and compassion," Cole continued. "These qualities have distinguished her as 'Mentor Nurse of the Year' at Alvarado Hospital.
