 The Alvarado Cancer Center has been recognized by the American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer for offering high-quality cancer care—only one in four hospitals providing cancer care earns this special honor.
The cancer center uses advanced techniques to aggressively treat malignancies, while providing hope for a future without the disease. We strive to provide each patient with quality compassionate care within comfortable surroundings, as well as education and support for patients and their families.
The cancer center's multidisciplinary team is comprised of board-certified oncologists who collaborate with a wide variety of specialists in pulmonary, GI, gynecology, hematology, neurology, otolaryngology and surgery. The medical oncologists on staff at Alvarado are considered among the best in the region and have been involved in multiple research projects.

Diagnostics – Ultrasound, mammography, nuclear medicine, CT scanning and magnetic resonance imaging, all interpreted by our board-certified radiologists.

Treatment – Radiation treatment services are provided on-site. In addition to a linear accelerator and conventional radiotherapy, specialized services include intensity modulated radiation therapy, radioactive implants/seeds and electron beam therapy. Chemotherapy can be administered on both an inpatient and outpatient basis, as well as the management of antibiotic dosaging and parenteral nutrition support.

Resource Center – Established in association with the American Cancer Society, our Cancer Resource Center provides
education, information and referral services—a single convenient source for information on risk reduction, diagnosis and treatment of cancer. Visitors have free access to online cancer information and related publications and periodicals from the National Cancer Institute, the Centers for Disease Control and other reliable sources. Alvarado Hospital is able to provide breast prostheses, bras, wigs, hats and turbans to women who are dealing with the physical affects of their cancer treatment.

Support services – "Reach for Our Hand" is a proactive outreach program that links cancer patients and their families with information, counseling and community resources.
