Imaging Services and Radiology

The first step in addressing a medical problem—whether it’s a blocked artery, a tumor or broken bone—is to find its precise location within the body, accurately measure it, and provide a “roadmap” that guides physicians during treatment. The staff of Alvarado Hospital’s radiology department, including physician-radiologists and radiology technologists, uses all the available state-of-the-art technology and procedures for this purpose.

As a sign of Alvarado's ongoing commitment to serve the medical needs of our community with highly advanced acute care, the hospital now provides a New GE™ Nuclear Medicine Scanner with SPECT/CT capabilities. This new SPECT/CT feature allows us to overlay CT images with our nuclear medicine study for even more definitive diagnoses. This works particularly well with parathyroid imaging, bone imaging and any Infection imaging. Our increased capacity means we can now perform even more cardiac and nuclear studies in half the time with better image resolution!

In addition, Alvarado Hospital has installed a new GE™ Innova 4100. This technology offers the industry's largest field of view for vascular and interventional imaging, and is the world's first large-format digital flat-panel X-ray system for angiographic imaging. It provides high-resolution imaging across the full range of vascular and interventional applications.

For patients, the new vascular and interventional imaging technology means increased comfort and safety, improved speed and accuracy of scans, and enhanced performance.
