Meet the Executive Team
Leadership is key to the success of any organization. At Alvarado Hospital, we have a diverse management team that brings years of experience, expertise, and dedication to meeting the healthcare needs of our community. Said leadership ensures that patients will receive superior care at Alvarado Hospital.
 
Harris F. Koenig serves as chief executive officer for Alvarado Hospital. Koenig returns to Alvarado Hospital where he served as chief operating officer from 1995-1998. As CEO, he works with the board of directors to set the strategic vision for the medical center. He oversees the strategic direction, operations, physician relations and development, as well as maintains overall leadership responsibility for Alvarado Hospital and the San Diego Rehabilitation Institute. He has more than 30 years of diverse healthcare experience with progressive management positions including CEO of three Southern California hospitals. Koenig has a strong background in strategic planning, as well as program and facility development. He earned a master’s degree in healthcare administration from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, and a bachelor’s degree in economics from George Mason College at the University of Virginia.

Darlene Wetton joined Alvarado Hospital in 1983 and currently serves as chief operating officer. Her responsibilities include oversight of departmental operations, implementation of business development strategies, and partnering with the medical staff to ensure high standards of quality care. In this role she was instrumental in the hospital’s attainment as a primary stroke center. Prior to being appointed the COO in 2004, she was the chief nursing officer at Alvarado for four years. Wetton has more than 20 years of healthcare leadership experience. She earned an MBA at Webster University in St. Louis, and was recognized as graduate student of the year. She has a bachelor’s degree in nursing from California State University at Dominguez Hills. Wetton has been honored by the San Diego Business Journal for its "Women Who Mean Business" award, which is given to local female business leaders for their excellence in career and community.
 
Tracey D. Talley is the chief financial officer and oversees the operations of finance, materials management, information systems, health information management, business office and admissions. He brings more than 20 years of finance experience in positions with increasing responsibility. Most recently, Talley was the CFO at 350-bed Valley Presbyterian Hospital in Van Nuys. While there, he was instrumental in rebuilding the hospital’s finance systems as part of a turnaround program. Prior to that, Talley was the regional vice president of finance for the Los Angeles/North Region of Tenet Healthcare Corp., the nation’s second-largest hospital system. While there, he had oversight responsibilities for 12 hospitals with more than 2,000 beds. He received multiple awards as being one of the top CFOs in Tenet’s 116-hospital network. He also has been CFO for several Los Angeles hospitals and health systems, including Encino-Tarzana Regional Medical Center, Century City Hospital, Midway Hospital, Community Memorial Hospital and OrNda Healthcare. Talley earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Indiana State University, Terra Haute.
 
Gudrun Moll is the chief nursing officer and has more than 16 years of nursing leadership and clinical experience. Her responsibilities include oversight of more than 350 nurses, nursing and clinical operations, clinical education and overall patient care and safety. A highly regarded nurse executive, Moll has a long track record for developing and implementing a safety-focused culture at hospitals in California, Arizona, Florida and her native Germany. Moll’s priorities include building a culture that continuously improves nursing performance standards and ensuring the hospital meets national safety and accreditation standards. She also is working with local nursing schools and neighboring healthcare providers to ensure the community continues to have qualified new nurse graduates. She holds multiple degrees, including an MBA in nursing from the University of Phoenix in Arizona, a master's degee from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh and certification for nursing executives.
