Information Desk Volunteers



Information Desk in Alvarado Lobby (Monday-Friday, 6 a.m.–6 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.)
 
This is important position in greeting and directing patients, visitors and others. You are one of the first faces patients and their loved ones encounter. Information desk volunteers should enjoy working with the public and have excellent customer service skills.
 
Duties include:
  • Greet and direct patients, visitors and others
  • Check in new patients for the admitting department
  • Transfer telephone calls to the correct room or department
  • Transport patients in wheelchairs
  • Deliver specimen to the laboratory/pathology
  • Transport units of blood to the nursing units
  • Bring medical charts and equipment to the floors
  • Deliver flowers/books/magazines to the patients
  • Distribute the surgery schedule
