The San Diego Rehabilitation Institute at Alvarado Hospital offers a highly trained staff of physical, occupational and speech therapists who treat orthopedic, neurologic, vestibular and pelvic floor conditions.
“San Diego Rehabilitation Institute patients work one-on-one with a licensed therapist for one hour, versus 30 minutes with a therapist then 30 minutes with an aide, which is typical therapy at most rehab facilities,” said Steven Keller, physical therapist.
The San Diego Rehabilitation Institute also offers treatment for several specialty conditions, including stroke, vestibular, pelvic floor and spine. For example, the outpatient neuro program offers a multidisciplinary approach to treating the neurologic population with an emphasis on stroke survivors. In addition, a specially trained physical therapist specializes in vestibular and pelvic floor rehab. To complement the hospital's renowned Advanced Spine Institute, the spine rehabilitation program has a McKenzie-trained therapist on staff.
