Alvarado Hospital was among the first in the nation to recognize sexual medicine as an important component to overall health by founding the one of first sexual medicine programs in the nation. Headed by internationally renowned Irwin Goldstein, MD, editor of the peer-reviewed Journal of Sexual Medicine, Alvarado Hospital's sexual medicine program holds regular community seminars, called Sex in Our City, throughout the year to standing-room-only crowds.

In February, Alvarado's Sex in Our City was held in conjunction with the annual conference of the International Society for the Study of Women, which was held in San Diego, and featured several recognized speakers including Dr. Lauren Streicher who is a regular guest on "The Dr. Oz Show" and Dr. Rose Hartzell who appears regularly on San Diego's Fox 5 station with Dr. Goldstein.

This women-only seminar included topics such as female libido issues, sexual difficulties in younger women, sex after menopause, recommendations to enhance relationships, hormone and non-hormone treatments, "Beyond Kegels," and more. For more information, click here.
