Vision Rehabilitation Program

The vision rehabilitation program provides assessment and treatment of the visual and perceptual skills needed for daily activities. Vision rehabilitation helps to maximize the patient’s functional visual abilities for essential life tasks at home and in the community. Working in collaboration with the referring physician and a board-certified neuro-optometrist, our team develops a customized treatment plan and home program that meet each patient’s individual needs. Whether it is learning to read with a device or implementing visual strategies for safe navigation in one’s environment, treatment can often improve life quality. We also offer recommendations for low-vision devices that can assist in everyday living.

Patients who benefit most from vision rehabilitation include those who have experienced a stroke, brain injury or age-related changes, such as macular degeneration or glaucoma.

Functional Tone Management Treatment

This program is a revolutionary new treatment approach for people who have experienced a neurological injury, such as stroke. This new technique uses an award-winning dynamic device to augment occupational therapy treatment. The involved hand is held in a functional position during reach, and assists with grasp and release. Our occupational therapist works closely with each patient to design a comprehensive treatment plan to improve and enhance the recovery of range of motion, strength, motor control and overall upper-extremity function.

People who have slight shoulder movement and some hand flexion following a recent stroke or neurological injury may benefit from this treatment.
